もしもし?
Excuse meは「すみません」と教わると思いますが、
学校で教わるところの、Pardon meと同じで、
「もう一度仰ってくれませんか」
と言う時にも使えます。
実際、私がアメリカにいた時、聞き取れなかった言葉を
もう一度言ってもらいたいときは、
I'm sorry?
と言って、もう一度行ってもらうことが多かったです
私が行った言葉がうまく伝わらなかった時も。
Pardon me?はほとんど使ったことなかったです。
そこで、Excuse meですが、
これはどちらかと言うと、
本当は聞き取れていたけど、その言葉の内容が信じられないので、
「なんですって？」
と言うニュアンスで、わざと丁寧な言葉である
Excuse meを使って話す、と言うことが多かったと思います。
ここでもモニカは、ジョーイの言った
「（もし全能になったら）自殺する」と言う言葉の
意味がわからなかったため、
聞き返していると言う文脈です。

Phoebe: No, I'm fine.
Lizzie: (leaves) See ya.

(The intercom buzzes.)
Monica: Hey. It's him. (On the intercom) Who is it?
